Still Serving

IIn 2019, an exclusive investigation by McClatchy revealed that the proportion of urinary, prostate, liver and blood cancer cases treated by the VA across all sectors of the military had sharply increased over the last two decades of war. Marine Corps Veteran Sgt. Mark S. Villamac Ho enlisted after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and deployed in early 2003 to Iraq. In 2017, he was diagnosed with two cancers and told that he had five years left to live. The VA has recognized that both of his cancers were incurred during his service in the military. While Ho continues to struggle with his diagnosis, he now dedicates the time that he has left to serving others.
